There are in Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus some intuitions as deep as Saint Augustin’s ones, though without the theological developments that she did not have to provide. Proclaimed Doctor of the Church, she therefore deserves to have at her service a theology enriching her intuitions in order to give them the breadth, the power and the exacteness that would make of her the Father of the Church whom the darkness of the XXth century needs, as the barbaric age needed Saint Augustin.
Father Molinié (1918–2002), Dominican and Thomist, converted by Saint Theresa and deeply struck and dazzled by her intuitions, was possessed all his life by the desire to outline for our contemporaries “the doctrine the Father has hidden from the intelligent and the wise”, as Jesus says: “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children” (Luke 10:21-22). Father Molinié thinks indeed, that philosophy and theology are too serious things that cannot be left to the intellectuals who have confiscated them to their profit, especially in France: only a child’s heart has the right and the duty to dedicate itself to these disciplines.
Therefore, it is for such child-hearted people that Father Molinié elaborated many theological reflections. He is always ready to modify them or even to sacrifice them if they do not help the Church to enter the eternal Light which the Christ wants to give us the foretaste of, even now in this world.
